Creative Environment 1.0 was launched at SIGGRAPH 88. In 1987 Langlois and engineers Richard Mercille and Laurent Lauzon began development of the company’s 3-D application software. The first development effort for the startup company was the Softimage Creative Environment system, with “creative workflow and process integration”.
